In the small town of Camonlocated near Amiens, a disturbing event occurred this Monday morning. A fire declared itself in the premises of Emmaüs, immediately raising questions as to its origin. The authorities now favor criminal trail following the simultaneity of a burglary within the same structure.
Limited damage but an alarming atmosphere
The flames specifically impacted three rooms, starting in the office where the social worker is located. Thanks to rapid intervention by firefighters, the fire was brought under control before it caused major damage. However, as a precautionary measure, around twenty companions living in these premises had to be temporarily evacuated.
The information collected reveals that at the same time as the fire, criminals tried to break into the building. By breaking a window, they gained access inside, where they tried to open a safe without success.
A futile theft, but serious consequences
According to initial estimates, the stolen loot is limited to a few dozen euros. Unfortunately, this money was not even contained in the secure box. Currently, a judicial investigation is underway, aimed at identifying those responsible for this break-in. The teams of the forensic science were dispatched to the scene to take samples both from the area affected by the fire and from the area where the theft took place.
An alert that shakes the community
The incident happened around 4 a.m. and left a community in shock. THE firefighters, although reactive, were unable to avoid the precautionary evacuation of those who found themselves on site. In the meantime, the Amiens public prosecutor's office has not yet provided detailed information regarding the outcome of the investigation.
