The US presidential election takes place this Tuesday. Despite herself, the Algerian Imane Khelif finds herself propelled into the spotlight.

Donald Trump actually used illustrations of the 2024 Olympic boxing champion in one of his campaign videos published on Sunday with the aim of pointing out the excesses of the Biden-Harris administration.

The ad opens with the following message: “Four years ago, we took a wrong turn and lost our goal.” The rest of the clip? A list of things that have gone wrong, according to Donald Trump, since Joe Biden became president of the United States.

At the 28th second, images of Imane Khelif celebrating one of her victories at the 2024 Olympics appear for a few moments. “Men can beat women and win medals,” the video's voiceover says at the same time. But there is no price for men who get up every day to do their job.”

The Republican candidate had already attacked the boxer when she had just eliminated Angela Carini at the 2024 Olympics. The Italian had decided to stop the fight after just 46 seconds. “I will keep men out of women’s sports,” he wrote on social media.

As a reminder, Imane Khelif had been accused of being a man because of her hyperandrogenism. On August 14, she filed a complaint for cyberharassment.
