TRIBUNE – For the High Commissioner for Planning, the National Assembly should draw inspiration from the rules in force in the European Parliament in order to ensure the effective presence of deputies.

The issue of parliamentary absenteeism has become hot again. Important appointments, chairs of committees or responsibilities in the office of the National Assembly, essential symbolic votes, such as the contribution of ’s budget to the European Union, are only acquired, against the fair balance of power, by due to the absence of some of the deputies. Images of rows of empty chairs, incomprehension of citizens. This sensation is all the more shocking given that the election of these same deputies took place barely more than three months ago!

I have expressed on several occasions the feeling of frustration felt by the defenders of parliamentary democracy. Added to this for our compatriots is the indignation of seeing in a serious situation for the country attitudes that they feel are casual.
