A vehicle crashed into a hotel in Sisteron on Monday November 4. A gas meter was torn off. Clients and staff members are currently confined during the intervention.
A vehicle crashed into a hotel in Sisteron (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence) this Monday, November 4 at the end of the afternoon, BFM DICI learned. While returning from the cemetery, the driver lost control of her car.
“The damage is significant”
The car gained speed and hit the barrier and stairs of the Tivoli hotel without causing any injuries. In its course, the car also hit a gas meter and a second vehicle.
“Currently, staff and customers are confined due to a possible leak. The barrier and the stairs are affected but everyone is fine,” reassures Céline Esclangon, the director of the establishment.
The mayor of Sisteron, Daniel Spagnou, visited the scene. “The damage is significant and the firefighters are in the process of extricating the driver from the top of the car. The car sped away and gained speed. It's quite impressive,” said the elected official.
Firefighters, gendarmes and municipal police are currently on site to supervise and secure the rescue operation.
