It was desolation when the president and vice-president of Emmaüs Camon discovered the extent of the damage. “We are stunned“, whispers one of them. The office next door was spared from the flames, but it is filled with soot. “Everything is black“, notes Catherine Richard, the president.

Emmaüs management filed a complaint and the police made initial findings. The association has not yet quantified the damage, but it is a hard blow in an already difficult context. “We live with our sales. For months, we have been making efforts and this is what is happening to us. Since the beginning of the year, as you know, with Abbé Pierre and then even before, we have had fewer donations since people are struggling, current society is difficult, so people sell either through sites, either by themselves in redecoration“, laments the vice-president.
To get back on their feet, volunteers and companions are counting on donations from individuals and rapid coverage by insurance.
