Legendary musician Quincy Jones has died at the age of 91. His press secretary, Arnold Robinson, announced his death to the agency Associated Press without specifying the cause.
The American trumpeter died in Los Angeles on Sunday November 3, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones, added his press officer.
“While this is a tremendous loss for our family, we celebrate the beautiful life he lived and know there will never be another like him.”his relatives said in a statement. He was born in Chicago in 1933.
Quincy Jones is a notable personality in American music in recent decades. He has won 28 Grammy Awards during his career.
Ex-producer of Michael Jackson
Quincy Jones also had a great career as a producer. He was notably Michael Jackson’s producer for the albums Thriller et Bad. He had also worked with Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles.
As the Universal record company recounts on its site, Quincy Jones lived in Paris where he worked for the Barclay label with Jacques Brel, Henri Salvador, and Charles Aznavour. He was decorated with the Legion of Honor in 2001.
In his article announcing the musician’s death, Associated Press sums it up like this: “The music titan has worked with everyone from Frank Sinatra to Michael Jackson”.
