A road accident that occurred during the night from Saturday to Sunday in the Acadian Peninsula caused the death of a man.
According to the RCMP, the vehicle involved was traveling on Route 11, around 1 a.m., in the Pointe-des-Robichaud sector, in Tracadie.
The collision is believed to have occurred when a vehicle traveling south crossed the center line and struck two utility poles. Three people were ejected from the vehicle.
Among the victims, a 28-year-old man from Judique, Nova Scotia, was killed in the single-vehicle collision.
Two other men who were in the car were seriously injured.
Members of the Tracadie Fire Department and Ambulance New Brunswick also attended the scene.
An RCMP collision reconstructionist and a member of the New Brunswick Coroner’s Office are assisting with the investigation.
An autopsy will be carried out to determine the exact cause of the man’s death.
The investigation by the RCMP and the Coroner’s Office continues.
NB Power facilities at the accident site were damaged.
“Approximately 1,340 customers in the region between Robichaud Point and Wisharts Point in Tabusintac were affected. Our team was able to safely restore power to all affected customers around 8:30 a.m. this morning,” said D’Arcy Walsh, spokesperson for the Crown corporation.
