General surprise at the Angers ice rink (Maine-et-). The French Evgeniia Lopareva and Geoffrey Brissaud won, on Saturday November 3, the first prize in pairs ice dancing at the French Grand Prix of figure skating, with 195.27 points. The competition was held at the IceParc in Angers from November 1 to 3.

For the French, aged 24 and 26 respectively, this victory was unexpected. They notably faced the double Italian European champions Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri on Saturday. The French skaters won, to everyone's surprise, thanks to a fall by the Italian couple, who finished second (189.08 points).

Their victory greatly moved Roxane Petetin, who coaches them in (). “They are two beautiful people who work a lot, who never complain, who never give up (…). Frankly, I have a lot of pride in supporting a couple like them.”she commented to the press.

Evgeniia Lopareva and Geoffrey Brissaud thus qualify for the first time for the Grand Prix final, which will take place in (Isère) from December 5 to 8. This victory also gives hope for a first European title during the 2025 European Figure Skating Championships which will be held in Estonia from January 27 to February 2. At the end of October, they had already won the bronze medal in ice dancing during the Skate Canada competition in Halifax.

In Angers on Saturday, the duo won the second tricolor gold medal of the Grand Prix, the French skater Adam Siao Him Fa, 23, having also won first place alone among the men, with 246.58 points.
