It is a soap opera which, for several weeks, has kept regulars of the old Cora de Villers-Semeuse in suspense. Since Tuesday October 29, 2024, the hypermarket has displayed the large blue letters of Carrefour. A change that occurred after the national takeover of Cora by the Carrefour group, announced a few months earlier, which notably concerned 60 other stores in France. With the replacement now in place, it is obvious that several commercial aspects will experience changes. Logically starting with the products that the Carolos will find on the shelves.
In a press release, the Carrefour group explained that the store did not wait for the change of brand to begin redesigning the departments. “ The gradual arrival of products from the new owner began in July », reveals to L’Ardennais the director of the hypermarket, whom we met a few days ago.
We would like to have 100% of the Carrefour product range by the end of the first quarter of 2025.
Over the coming months, consumers should see “ nearly 6,000 Carrefour brand references, a wide range of own-brand products for all budgets (Simpl’, Carrefour Classic’, Selection), as well as numerous organic, local and regional products at affordable prices (Carrefour Bio, Reflets de France)”, as specified in the press release. “ We would like to have 100% of the Carrefour product range by the end of the first quarter of 2025 », ambitions the director. Were also mentioned in the document “ a 10% price drop on more than 3,000 references » et « numerous promotions on everyday products ».
What about Cora products?
If the integration of Carrefour brand items into the store has already begun, what future is emerging for Cora products? “ Our strategy is to wait until they fade little by littleexplains the director. However, it is difficult to know when stocks will definitely be sold out. Especially since we have a commitment with suppliers that lasts until the end of the year “. It is therefore still possible, for the most nostalgic, to obtain Cora products in Villers-Semeuse.
The official opening of the new Carrefour will take place on November 19 in the presence of elected officials and local stakeholders.
What are consumers’ expectations?
« We would like products with affordable prices, as is the case for example at Leclerc de Sedan. Especially since what we found in Cora was still quite expensive », Claims Mélody on the square of the neo-Carrefour. Like her, Céline, coming for her Sunday shopping, hopes for reasonable prices, but nevertheless remains realistic: “ With inflation and the recent change of brand, I think we must remain a little lenient in terms of our financial wishes. Personally, I will mainly pay attention to quality “. Same refrain for Marine who, like everyone else, “ like it when it’s cheaper ” more “ prioritizes quality over costs “. Quite far from these considerations, Sophie, who pushes an empty cart that just needs to be filled, would rather like a wide range of products. “ I liked the diversity offered by Cora, so I hope Carrefour will follow the same pathshe admits. Then, if there weren’t exactly the same products as at Carrefour de la Croisette, it wouldn’t be bad », she adds, nevertheless aware of the improbability of her last wish.
