A young man in his twenties was stabbed to death on Saturday in the Pontchaillou district, in the west of (Ille-et-Vilaine).

A little later, another man was seriously injured after being stabbed in the city center of the Breton metropolis.

The authorities have not yet announced a link between these two cases.

New drama in Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine). A young man in his twenties was killed by several stab wounds in the Pontchaillou district, in the west of the city, on Saturday November 2 afternoon. Uncertainty remains over the circumstances of this tragedy. The public prosecutor of Rennes, Frédéric Teillet, confirmed this death to AFP, adding that there was “no link with a deal point at this stage” of the investigation, contrary to what certain sources could suggest.

Another stabbing in the evening

A few hours later, at the start of the evening, another man, aged 39, was seriously injured by a stab in the city center of Rennes, the TF1/LCI police-justice service learned. Transported to hospital urgently, his vital prognosis is not in jeopardy. Witnesses say they saw three people around the victim fleeing in opposite directions after the attack. According to a police source cited by AFP, a man presented himself at the city police station around 10 p.m., claiming to be the author of the stabbings.

This murder and this attack come a few hours after the visit to Rennes by Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau on Friday. The person in charge had made the trip after the serious gunshot wound of a five-year-old child in the Maurepas district. A hotbed of drug trafficking in the region, it has been the scene of several settling of scores in recent months. The young boy, hit in the head, was still between life and death on Friday.
