Sonatrach started delivering natural gas to the Czech Republic on 1is last October, the oil company indicated this Sunday, November 3, 2024 in a press release.

“Sonatrach began, on October 1, 2024, the delivery of the first quantities of natural gas to the Czech company CEZ as part of a contract for the purchase and sale of natural gas recently concluded by the two companies,” said indicated Sonatrach.

“This gas intended for the supply of the Czech Republic is transported through the gas pipeline linking Algeria to Italy, concluding successful negotiations which lasted two years, and constitutes the first milestone of cooperation between the two companies with a view to consolidating their longer-term relationship,” we added.

A first contract which “will allow Sonatrach to “conquer a share of the Czech gas market and also to strengthen its role as a reliable long-term supplier of natural gas to the European market”, further specified the oil company.

“Supplies through gas pipelines in Tunisia and Italy will cover around 2% of Czech gas consumption, which corresponds to the needs of 100,000 households,” Roman Gazdik, spokesperson for CEZ, declared last Thursday. in a press release taken up by AFP.
