The group announced that the Hyundai Glovis subsidiary, in charge of automobile transport, would deploy a new tool on its car transporter trucks to extinguish fires in electric vehicles. The system works using water from a fire hydrant. The drill can penetrate the underbody and vehicle battery in just 2 minutes. Once water is sprayed into the battery, the fire is expected to be extinguished within 30 minutes. Hyundai plans to first equip 32 of its car transporters before extending the system to its ships. To go even further, the South Korean firm is also strengthening its water safety system. Cargo ships will be equipped with a new monitoring system which displays the exact location of fires. In total, the brand operates 90 carriers, including 32 own vessels.
