Israel strengthens protection of its northern border for 130 million shekels
The Israeli Ministry of Defense has launched a vast operation to secure localities near the Lebanese border, as part of the “Northern Shield” program. This project, estimated at 130 million shekels (around 32 million euros), includes major protection works. The initiative provides for the strengthening of 150 public and educational buildings, as well as the installation of more than 200 shelters in different municipalities in Upper Galilee and adjacent regions. Particular emphasis is placed on the protection of educational establishments, with the imminent delivery of six secure kindergartens. Notable point of the program: the construction of 261 individual shelters in localities located less than one kilometer from the Lebanese border. This work continues despite current tensions, including in combat zones.
