Sylvie Vartan gave an interview to our colleagues at “Point” this Thursday, October 31, 2024. The singer returned to the immense disappointment felt after making a proposal to Michel Sardou.

Since the 1960s, Sylvie Vartan has spanned the ages with success that has never wavered. Icon of French song and cinema, she managed to conquer a large audience with her elegance and her inimitable voice. From her beginnings in the yé-yé era to her flagship collaborations, notably with Johnny Hallyday, she has become a true symbol of French culture.

Aged 80, Sylvie Vartan is preparing to say goodbye to the stage. Next January, she will perform for the last time at the Palais des Congrès, after a series of concerts at the Dôme de Paris on November 8, 9 and 10, where she will perform her greatest hits. In the media, the singer recently spoke with emotion about her musical past and her relationship with Johnny Hallyday, confident: “We can thus retrace our history by listening to us sing! It was an extension of our intimacy. We formed a ménage à trois: him, me and the public.”

“He exaggerates”

In a recent interview for “Le Point”, Sylvie Vartan also shared her disappointment regarding Michel Sardou, with whom she had performed “Les Balkans et la Provence” in 1983. While she wanted to invite him for a last duet on stage , the artist refused to participate. “I wanted him to come and sing with me, but he refused. He exaggerates, especially since our song is very pretty. But I wasn’t going to harass him,” she confided, clearly affected by this refusal. This regret does not, however, tarnish the magic of this farewell tour, where she will notably find Étienne Daho, with whom she will share an exceptional moment to revive the memories of her loyal audience.
