This car couldn't have caught fire in a worse place. It was in Saint-Brice-Courcelles (Marne), a town in the suburbs of Reims, that a fire occurred requiring the assistance of around twenty firefighters.

The fire on this light vehicle (LV), in the jargon of fire fighters, broke out… right next to a gas distribution box. The intervention was therefore relatively complicated, France 3 Champagne-Ardenne learned from the Marne departmental fire and rescue service (Sdis).

It was necessary to evacuate part of the neighborhood, twelve people according to the firefighters. In the meantime, the fire had spread to a house: it was “of a pavilion of 90 m2” from rue de la Commune, which runs alongside the park (location on the map below).

The intervention of the firefighters, supported by two ton pump vans (FPT) and a pivoting ladder with sequential movements (EPS), made it possible to avoid further propagation. But the pavilion is described as “totally destroyed”.

A rehousing solution was offered to the household who lives there. The other people in the neighborhood were able to return to their homes around 5:30 a.m., when the firefighters completed their intervention.

Despite the material destruction, firefighters did not count any victims.
