“The NRJ Music Awards are freedom”: Amir shaves his hair live during his performance

A show which symbolizes its commitment to a bold and innovative artistic proposition. Singer Amir created a surprise this Friday evening during the NRJ Awards ceremony, by shaving his hair live during his filmed performance.

Nominated in the “French-speaking song of the year” category alongside Slimane, Louane and Pierre Garnier, the 40-year-old French artist performed on stage his song “Sommet”, the clip of which has more than 800,000 views on YouTube .

Microphone in hand, he doesn't stop singing when two hairdressers intervene to cut his brown hair, which falls out in whole strands. “The NRJ Music Awards are freedom. This is the artistic proposition. We are going far, to the top,” Amir justified after his performance, questioned by Nikos.

Amir Haddad, his full name, is a French-Israeli singer and composer revealed to the general public thanks to his participation in the show “The Voice” in 2014. His first album, “Au coeur de moi”, was a great success, notably with the hit “J’ai recherche”, which represented at Eurovision in 2016.

His title “Summit”, released last May, was chosen to become the anthem of the Olympic Games. “I think people are happy to come together around this anthem. Especially since the competition is particularly successful for French athletes,” the artist confided to us.

In the same interview, Amir recognized that his song had benefited from “a big spotlight with the Olympics”, but hoped that it “continues to live after”.
