At the end of the week, the police arrested two individuals who were particularly unconscious at the wheel of their vehicle. The motorists were immediately arrested and now face severe penalties.
Driving without a license and blood alcohol content above 2 grams
The first driver arrested was driving without a license, at the wheel of a gray Peugeot 207 reported stolen since the end of June 2024. A small appetizer in view of the massive checks planned by the police. The next day, the Évreux police officers couldn't believe their eyes, in the middle of the evening, a motorist in his fifties was driving… in the wrong direction. Arrested immediately, he was subjected to an alcohol test revealing a level of 2.12 grams per liter of blood, well above the legal limit.
Heavy penalties
These two motorists, having committed serious offenses, risk heavy penalties. The first was presented to the public prosecutor's office on October 26 for an immediate appearance, pending the execution of a four-month prison sentence for driving without a license. The second has not yet been tried, but he also faces heavy penalties: a prison sentence of up to two years, a fine of up to €4,500, judicial suspension of his driving license and withdrawal automatic 6 points. Case to be continued, but one thing is certain: we should not see it again on the roads legally any time soon.
To summarize
Last week, the police were full in just a few days. A man, who was driving a stolen car without a license, was arrested. The next day, a second motorist, driving in the wrong direction with more than 2 grams of alcohol in his blood, was intercepted.
