Victim of an attempted rape, a young woman was rescued by the police on October 19, 2024 after raising the alarm by telephone, reports the Independent. The events occurred in the town of Volusia, Florida (United States). Sensing that her attacker was about to take action, but fearing her reaction if she openly called for help, the victim pretended to order a pizza by telephone: in reality, she had dialed the police number.

Arrested for sexual assault

When the law enforcement operator asked her if she was sure she was speaking to the right person, the victim verbally confirmed her intention. From there, the operator realized that the young woman was in danger. The call was immediately located in a field on the outskirts of the town. Dispatched to the scene, the police covered several hectares before being alerted by the cries of the victim, who was grappling with the suspect. The latter was arrested for sexual assault, violence with strangulation and kidnapping. According to the victim's testimony, the defendant, a friend with whom she had gone out for a drink, consumed cocaine before subjecting her to three attempted rapes.
