Two months after the murder of Christian Malo, a young Kanak from New Caledonia shot in the head in the parking lot of the Tropical Club nightclub in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), the alleged shooter was arrested in Algeria. This 25-year-old man, known for drug trafficking, is currently detained by the Algerian authorities, according to information from La Dépêche du Midi.

The tragedy unfolded on the morning of August 25, following an altercation involving two New Caledonian women. After exchanges of insults and spitting, the situation degenerated. The suspect allegedly used a pistol with a laser sight to shoot the victim. A 28-year-old accomplice had already been arrested at the end of August and placed under judicial supervision. The alleged shooter had fled to Spain then to Algeria.

His arrest followed a red notice issued by the Toulouse public prosecutor's office. Negotiations are underway between France and Algeria concerning a possible extradition, with the Algerian justice system also considering trying him there.
