On the sidelines of the Betclic ELITE playoffs, two extra-sporting issues are gaining importance. There is that of Limoges CSP and that of Metropolitans 92. If the town hall of Boulogne-Billancourt has decided not to extend the adventure of its professional basketball club, sportingly relegated to Pro B, potential buyers are knocking on the door.
Indeed, Luc Dayan, former president of LOSC, RC Lens, FC Nantes and RC Strasbourg, applied to buy the Metropolitans 92. In his rescue enterprise, Luc Dayan would be helped by an American investment fund. For the moment, the town hall of Boulogne-Billancourt, owner of the club, has shown little enthusiasm in the discussions around this takeover, while mayor Pierre-Christophe Baguet wants to move on.
Luc Dayan spoke to Parisian on his takeover project. During the 2023-2024 season, American investors had already presented an offer to the town hall, but it was refused. The businessman came back to them. Both parties have a common objective, that of “ save the club“. One of the managers of the Eurostep Ventures investment fund affirmed his interest in buying the club:
“ I am interested“, announces this Californian who comes to Paris half the time. “ Paris is a city full of basketball talent, there is an incredible pool of young players and the people are basketball fans. There is a place here for another great basketball club, I am convinced. It’s not an easy challenge and we’ve only just started the process, so it’s still a little premature to announce anything. But we will do everything possible to revive this historic club. I know that Boulogne-Levallois is the former club of Victor Wembanyama, but it is also the former club of my favorite player, Boris Diaw.“
It remains to be seen whether the town hall of Boulogne-Billancourt will continue discussions with Luc Dayan and the investment fund in order to transfer the shares to them and allow them to return to Pro B. However, many gray areas exist, particularly around of the potential room of the Metropolitans 92. The city of Levallois will make more room for the project of the Levallois Sporting Club, which has just joined the Nationale 1. The repurchase of the shares of the Metropolitans 92 represents a significant investment.

“As long as we can discuss, exchange, we can hope to find a solution, this is not the case. It’s a shame because we’ve been working non-stop for days to find a solution.”, regrets Luc Dayan, while the town hall of Boulogne-Levallois shows little investment in exchanges. It remains to be seen whether he and the investors will throw in the towel quickly, while other clubs wait to know whether or not they will be drafted into Pro B, NM1, NM2 etc.
