Iconic star of French song, Charles Aznavous died at the age of 94, on 1er October 2018. Born in Paris on May 22, 1924, the singer would have celebrated his 100th birthday this year. A singing legend, he left his mark on the French music scene and became one of the most popular singers of all time.
This June 2, in the columns of the Journal du Dimanche, a relative of the artist made revelations about the causes of his death.

1er October 2018, Charles Aznavour died in the bathtub of the bathroom adjoining the bedroom of his second home in Mouriès. The artist had this residence in Bouches-du-Rhône built in the 1990s. For around ten years, the legend of French song had been growing and marketing olive oil there.
The death of Charles Aznavour left an entire nation in turmoil. A few days after his death, a national tribute to the singer was organized in the courtyard of the Invalides. An autopsy was carried out on the body of the deceased. The results showed that the artist died of a “ acute pulmonary edema responsible for a cardio-respiratory failure which proved to be beyond any therapeutic resource“.

Gérard Davoust, honorary president of Sacem, spoke in the columns of the Journal du Dimanche this Sunday, June 2, 2024. The one who was a close friend of the singer gave the real reasons, according to him, for the musician’s death. According to Gérard Davoust, the singer’s trip to Japan shortly before his disappearance had nothing to do with it. “Two days before he died, we returned the courtesy of having lunch with Belmondo. Charles Aznavour returned from two concerts in Japan, in Osaka and Tokyo. He was in great shape, surprised even to be so little tired after such a trip. “He should never have taken that plane to Japan. You don’t let a 94-year-old man travel that long without administering anticoagulants. He died of a pulmonary embolism in his bath. I still blame the airlines. It’s criminal what they did“ then added Gérard Davoust.

The disappearance of Charles Aznavour has left many people, fans or relatives of the singer, in mourning. The one who debuted with Edith Piaf left behind five children, and an entire saddened country.
