It was expected and it’s official, Mario Balotelli signed up this Monday with the Genoa club. The Genovese club, second worst attack in Serie A and 18th in the ranking, is counting on the whimsical attacker to stay in the first division.
“Balotelli is a new player from Genoa (…) welcome to Genoa, Super Mario”, wrote in a brief press release the club which had announced the arrival of the former Italian international the day before through its sporting director . Unsurprisingly, it was via a video in reference to the Super Mario video game that Genoa confirmed this recruitment.
The unpredictable striker, aged 34, passed the traditional medical examination on Monday and immediately signed his contract, the duration of which was not specified by Genoa.
According to the Italian press, Balotelli, who has not played in Serie A for more than four years, has signed up until the end of the season.
