AAt least 60 people were killed Monday in several Israeli raids on eastern Lebanon, according to a “non-definitive” report from the Lebanese Ministry of Health, listing the bombings on 12 localities in the Baalbeck region and the Bekaa plain. , Hezbollah strongholds.

Among the victims are two children, according to the ministry’s count.

This day is “the most violent” in Baalbeck since the start of the war in September, the governor of the province, Bachir Khodr, said on X.

Since September 23, the latent conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has transformed into open war, with the Israeli army daily bombarding the strongholds of the pro-Iranian movement.

The Ministry of Health published the victim reports in the evening in several localities and regions targeted throughout the day.

“Operations are continuing to clear the rubble” in the affected villages, the ministry said in its press release.

60 dead and 58 injured

“Sixty martyrs and 58 wounded in a non-definitive assessment of the Israeli enemy’s raids on Balbeck-Hermel and the Bekaa,” according to the same source.

The ministry cited in particular a raid on Al-Allaq which left 16 dead, another on al-Hafir which left ten dead as well as a bombing on the Ram sector in which nine people were killed.

Six people, including a child, were killed in a strike on the town of Bodai. A second child died in “a raid by the Israeli enemy” on the town of Brital.

These bombings were not preceded by calls to evacuate issued by the Israeli army before its bombings elsewhere in Lebanon. In the east of the country, bordering Syria, Israel does not generally call on the population to evacuate, because they say they are targeting Hezbollah positions.

Bombings also targeted the coastal city of Tire in southern Lebanon on Monday, where seven people were killed, according to the Health Ministry.

With this non-exhaustive toll, Israeli strikes in Lebanon have left more than 1,700 dead since September 23, according to an AFP count based on data from the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
