Mr. Zelensky should discuss, with representatives of the six Nordic countries represented at this summit, his “victory plan”, supposed to guarantee “a just peace” in kyiv against Russia.
They should also talk about “financing Ukrainian weapons production”, “long-range capabilities”, aid to Ukraine to cope with winter, “maritime security” and “provision of training and equipment to Ukrainian forces,” he continued.
Among these six Nordic nations, Finland, a NATO member, shares a common border with Russia 1,340 kilometers long and has decided to strengthen its army since the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
Another member country of the summit, Norway cohabits with Russia on the Svalbard archipelago in the Arctic, where the Russian mining community of Barentsburg lives.
Visiting Sweden for a previous summit of the Nordic countries last May, Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of “preparing provocations” on the borders of the states bordering the Baltic Sea.
Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden had pledged more than 17 billion euros in aid to Ukraine, according to a press release issued at the time.
