For its 9th edition, this prize is awarded to Salomé Lahoche for her book Ernestine, published by Even Pas Mal in January 2024. “With her second album, [elle] proves his ability to mix humor and depth. The book immerses us in the adventures of a special little girl and her dysfunctional family. The reading is moving and calls for repetition in order to grasp all the nuances of this singular album.” It is with these words that the jury of the Révélation BD prize, awarded by the society of authors in the graphic and plastic arts (Adagp) and by the Quai des Bulles festival, salutes the work of the artist.

A success already anticipated

Awarded to promote and encourage the work of young authors, the prize rewards both the screenplay and the drawing. It was after a pre-selection of 10 works, out of the 50 proposed, that the jury chose the winning author for her work Ernestine. Very active since 2020 on her Instagram account (where she has 102,000 subscribers), she publishes numerous autobiographical strips, and has already enjoyed success with her first work, Life is a Chore.

Born in in 1997, Salomé Lahoche had a taste for reading very early on, particularly comic books. She started with Persepolis, the work of Marjane Satrapi, and loved Cédric's stories. In college, she already participated in a comic book club. After her baccalaureate, she studied art in , Angoulême then .

She first won 2nd prize in a young talent competition in Angoulême. Today she is pursuing several projects: following up on her first album, for which she obtained significant crowdfunding, producing a second volume of Ernestine, and she is working on a next work which will be released by Glénat.
