the essential
Moments after the historic verdict that found him guilty of 34 counts in the Stormy Daniels case, former President Donald Trump declared through his lawyer his intention to appeal. He also presented himself as “a political prisoner”, while launching an appeal for donations.

For Donald Trump, at the end of the trial which recorded his conviction, “the real verdict will take place on November 5, by the American people”. This is what he assured in front of the cameras after being found guilty of all the charges against him in this criminal trial, the first of a former American president.

The billionaire, who wants to return to the White House at the end of this election, wasted no time in relaunching his campaign.

“It’s a shame”

“I am a political prisoner,” launched the Republican candidate in a call for donations published the evening following the verdict, criticizing a trial instigated according to him by his Democratic opponent, outgoing President Joe Biden. “It’s a shame, it was a rigged trial by a corrupt judge,” he also declared as he left the court.

On his social network “Truth Social”, he repeated his attacks against “the Democrats”, his political opponents, who according to him “succeeded” through his condemnation to “transform” the United States into a “country of s*** of the third-world”. He adds that “November 5 is the last chance” to save the country, continuing to denounce that its “civil rights have been totally violated by this political, unconstitutional trial” which is akin to a “witch hunt” which “interferes with the American election.

Donald Trump’s sentencing will take place on July 11 and will therefore coincide with a NATO summit in Washington, an opportunity for Joe Biden to mark his presence on the international scene. And this, a few days before the start of the Republican convention which will be held in Milwaukee (north), from July 15 to 18.
