The STVV won a golden victory on Saturday in the fight for maintenance. He beat Westerlo at Stayen 2-0, thus gaining distance from Cercle and Beerschot. The club can thank their new top scorer, Bertaccini, who scored both goals.
Sint-Truiden makes a golden deal
The match started slowly, but the first big chance proved to be a winner. Bertaccini suddenly appeared in front of Van Langendonck, who replaced the injured Bolat in the Westerlo goal, and scored. The offside flag initially went up, but VAR found that the striker was in a legal position. Just before the hour mark, Ogawa sent a free kick off the crossbar.
Bertaccini top scorer
After the break, Westerlo entered the match better, but it was Sint-Truiden who would double the lead. After a first penalty claimed in vain by Van Helden, the eleven meters was awarded a few moments later after Vuskovic received the ball on the arm in the penalty area. Bertaccini took the opportunity to score his second goal of the evening.
The Sint-Truiden striker thus brings his total to eight goals this season and overtakes Tolu Arokodare as top scorer. The score will ultimately remain at 2-0, but it is enough for Sint-Truiden to move away from the last two places. Westerlo therefore once again misses the opportunity to enter the top six.
