A fire broke out in a residence located at 6400 34e Avenue, in Laval-Ouest, on the morning of Thursday, October 24.
The Laval Fire Department’s intervention began at 11:13 a.m., four minutes after the 911 call. Smoke was visible when the firefighters arrived.
They ensured that the evacuation of the building had been completed, then they attacked the fire in the basement in order to stop the spread of the flames which mainly affected the structure of the building.
The fire was finally under control at 11:48 a.m.
A total of 26 firefighters and 7 units were dispatched to the scene. The Laval Police Department was also present and will take charge of the investigation. The fire is believed to have started due to a mechanical or electrical failure.
The damage is estimated at $120,000 for the building and $20,000 for the contents.
The two people who resided at this address will have to be temporarily relocated.
