This Saturday, AC Milan hosted US Salernitana at its San Siro venue. This rang hollow throughout the first period, except for the goals, before the Curva Sud woke up, as expected, during the second act.

It was an evening like never before, or almost. This Saturday, on the occasion of the 38th and final day of Serie A, AC Milan and US Salernitana neutralized each other on the San Siro pitch (3-3) and, if four former LOSC players could potentially compete this part, only Rafael Leao was aligned from the start on the green rectangle. The Portuguese was decisive by scoring the first goal of the game (22′). Immediately, for his farewell, Olivier Giroud (“Oli” as he is called in Milan) added with the break goal (27′). We had to wait until the second period to see the match take another turn, with goals from Simy (64′) and Calabria (77′). Still with a two-goal lead, the Rossoneri broke two minutes before the end of regulation time (Sambia 87′ and Simy 89′) to concede a draw, a fourth this season at home (3-3), without consequence.

45 minutes of silence

The game took place in a special atmosphere. Before kick-off, the names of the starters were chanted, notably those of Stefano Pioli, Olivier Giroud and Simon Kjaer. The party followed the protest with, as planned, 45 minutes of strike against the announced appointment of Paulo Fonseca on the side of AC Milan: “The stadium is dead, even for the last of Pioli, Kjaer and Giroud. Courage to Fonseca, he will need it to be accepted by the fans”then launches @AC_MilanFR on X, French-speaking account of the Lombard training followed by more than 70,000 people. This heavy atmosphere was all the more striking as the Curva Sud then burst into flames at the end of this strike period, under the smoke of a multitude of smoke bombs (see below) and the songs of thousands of supporters.

Simon Kjaer’s farewell

After four years of good and loyal service, Simon Kjaer lived his last game at AC Milan. Free from any contract, he turns a page in his career, a page in his life. In total, he will have played 120 matches in these colors, more than with any other team.
