When confusion reigns. The National Organization of Algerian Sports Journalists (ONJSA) expressed its dissatisfaction following the decision of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), regarding the media day dedicated to VAR technology (video assistance to arbitration). She considered that this initiative should have been organized in partnership with her to the extent that she had proposed to the FAF a joint information day on the use of VAR.
In a press release, the ONJSA highlights a broader concern regarding relations between sports authorities and media actors in Algeria. The organization believes that this situation could have been avoided through better communication and mutual respect for ideas and initiatives. From now on, she calls for recognition of her rights and hopes that this situation will serve as a lesson for establishing a more constructive dialogue in the future.
It should be noted that the ONJSA is not recognized abroad by the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) despite its multiple attempts to integrate it. Since 1998, the AIPS has recognized the Association of Algerian Sports Journalists (AJSA) which survives without state aid and which occupies the vice-presidency of the AIPS-Africa despite incessant attacks from the Moroccan Association of sports press (AMPS). The AJSA is the only one authorized to accredit national journalists for various world competitions (Olympics, World Cup, CAN, Champions League, etc.)
