The fourth day of the Marmara Spike League saw Nice Volley Ball face Paris. A match won quite easily by the NVB.
After a mixed start to the season, the NVB had to react this evening at home. With one victory for two defeats, the situation is not yet worrying. However, if the club aims to reach the final stages, it is essential not to let any points slip away at home.
The players of Brice Donat understood it well. From the start of the meeting, Merrick Mchenry et Simon Hirsch shine on the counter, quickly giving the advantage to the NVB. Paris commits several errors in attack, allowing the Eagles to maintain a lead of two to three points. Then, at (15-13), le show Simon Hirsch is launched. The sharp German allowed Nice to soar to finally pocket the first set (25-16).
Nice didn’t give up
Well launched, the Niçois reproduced the same scenario in the second round. Well guided by Alexandros Raptis, Nooa Martilla and Merrick Mchenry, they take the advantage at (12-10). Helped by the numerous mistakes in the service of Parisiansthe NVB easily won the second set (25-20).
We seem to be heading for an easy victory, but in the past, Nice has sometimes experienced slumps which cost him dearly. Paris is aware of this. The two teams go blow for blow. The Maralpins are showing some signs of nervousness in attack, just like the Parisians. We feel that this set could be a turning point. The two opponents find themselves tied (24-24), with neither team managing to take the advantage. Finally, the meeting ended with a final Parisian attack error.
Nice won in three sets (25-16, 25-20, 26-24). An important success for the morale of the troops. In terms of accounting, the Eagles move up to provisional fourth place with seven points.
