A hero during these floods. Dylan is a municipal agent in Rive-de-Gier, in the Loire. He, with his manager, saved a child from drowning on Thursday. He recounts this rescue on Saturday October 19, on RTL.
“I was going to see the damage in the city and I ran into my manager. We went to see about his car, if we could get to it. The water was still quite high, and the kids (sic ) approached the water, and suddenly we saw one leave and fall“, he recalls.
“I rushed to grab it and my colleague held me,” continues the municipal employee. If he hadn’t caught him, “I think he would have been sucked in by the water, he whispers.
Dylan does not want the term “hero”: “I did my duty, in disasters like that, there is no need to think, you have to lend a hand if we can, help our neighbor.”
The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region was the hardest hit by this Cévennes episode. Three more departments in France are on orange alert for flooding on Saturday: Puy-de-Dôme, Pyrénées-Atlantiques and Landes.
