Among the great architects of Isère’s success in Béziers (22-25), flyhalf Marc Palmier, author of 20 points, showed satisfaction after this important success. Enough to congratulate a collective which has allowed it to distinguish itself in the art of penalties.

Marc, after such a victory, is it a great achievement for you in Béziers?

Yes, it’s very positive, especially in the state of mind and the collective which was impeccable. For 80 minutes, we were rather consistent, despite a few details still to be refined.. We were keen to make up for our recent blunders away from home. It’s done.

However, have you frequently been looking for the ball with an opponent’s possession to control?

It’s quite contradictory. With the wind at our backs in the first half, I think the strategy was the right one. Faced with an opponent who knows how to restart, we had to control our occupation. Defensively, we resisted their numerous appearances in our 22 meters well.

There was a clear desire for dispossession, did we sense a quality tactical approach overall?

We found what we had put in place in a few weeks ago. Against teams who know how to keep the ball, we had to break the play, which we didn’t necessarily succeed in doing during the first period. In the end, we played behind them when necessary, and we knew how to put ourselves in a position to score when the opportunity presented itself.

On a personal level, did you contribute to this result by converting most of your attempts?

Of course, it’s nice, but we shouldn’t stop there. We existed in commitment, all together. We let the storm pass for the first 20 minutes. I only made the work of my teammates easier and we can only congratulate the team for their overall performance.
