Dakar, Oct 18 (APS) – Port activities continue ”normally”, despite the capsizing of the ship ”Princesse Jessica” which occurred during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday at pier 2, assures the Autonomous Port of Dakar (PAD ) in a press release sent to the APS on Friday.

”It is important to emphasize that this incident has no impact on port activities, which continue normally,” declares the PAD.

The ship ”MV Zografia” caused the capsizing of the ”Princess Jessica” after hitting it, according to the same source.

”There was no loss of human life,” she said, adding that the relevant PAD services intervened to ensure the security of the incident area.

Beacons have been put in place, and administrative procedures initiated in accordance with the regulations in force, according to the Autonomous Port of Dakar.

The national port company assures that ”the necessary measures for the refloating of the ship ‘Princesse Jessica’ will be quickly implemented”.

It claims to have ”a robust operational system” and says it collaborates ”closely with the competent administrations to react effectively and minimize the impact” of incidents of this nature.

”We would like to assure all of our partners and customers of the proactive management of this incident and reiterate our commitment to guaranteeing the security and fluidity of our operations,” assures the PAD.
