The stormy rains gave work to the Sarthois firefighters. During the day of Tuesday May 21, 2024, the latter were mobilized twenty times for flooding, we can read this Wednesday morning in the report from the Departmental Fire and Rescue Operational Center (Codis).
If the interventions concern “the whole department”, one sector seems to have been particularly affected: that of Saint-Cosme-en-Vairais, in the north of the department. Four firefighters intervened following the overflow of a stream.
New stormy episodes expected this Wednesday
During the day on Tuesday, the Departmental Council indicated that several roads were closed due to flooding. This Wednesday, new stormy episodes are expected in the department, between 2 p.m. and 11 p.m. Sarthe is placed on yellow alert, by Météo-France.
