Ismael Munanga, the fifth defendant in the Dido Kankisingi murder case, was arrested in Kinshasa on April 29 and transferred to Kindu central prison on Friday May 17. This defendant is a close collaborator of the interim governor of Maniema province, Afani Idrissa Mangala.

The victim’s family, represented by his lawyer, Maître Jacques Ngongo Omeonga Amisi, praised the work of the prosecution at the Maniema Court of Appeal.

The arrest of Mr. Munanga was carried out following a letter rogatory signed by the general prosecutor of the Maniema public prosecutor’s office, at the request of the victim’s family and lawyer.

The family of the deceased is also awaiting the arrest of 14 other people suspected of being involved in this case.

Arrest warrants have been issued for these suspects. Dido Kankisingi’s family hopes that these individuals will be apprehended quickly and brought to justice.

Lawyer, member of the political party Ensemble pour la République, Dido Kankisingi was killed on November 28, 2023, during clashes which broke out upon the arrival of Moise Katumbi in Kindu as part of his electoral campaign.
