This Tuesday, May 21, the two stars of the Geneva show (which took place at the beginning of March) reveal their prices. The Renault 5 electric city car has just opened its order book (but only for high-end versions and engines), while the MG3 arrives at the Port of Le Havre and is preparing to land in the Chinese manufacturer’s French dealerships. -British.
MG Motor France had already announced that its hybrid city car would be priced below €20,000, and confirmed this today with the publication of the range. Three finishes are available, all associated with the same 195 hp simple hybrid engine. This, particularly powerful compared to the competition (a Toyota Yaris offers 116 or 130 hp, a Renault Clio E-Tech displays 145 hp), delivers great performance. 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 8 seconds, and acceleration is efficient with 80 to 120 km/h achieved in 5 seconds. However, the city car controls its consumption with 4.4 l/100 km announced, and CO2 emissions set at 100 g/km.
The MG3 range is made up of three finishes, like the rest of the range: Standard, Comfort and Luxury. The entry level, already well equipped, is therefore priced from €19,990. It includes the now mandatory driving aids (adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assistance, reversing radars and reversing camera, etc.) as well as automatic lights with LED daytime running lights, 7-inch digital meters, a 10.25” central screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as navigation, or even electric windows. On the other hand, a small sting on the part of MG: the absence of the rear window wiper, standard only from the intermediate Comfort finish.
Cheaper than the entry-level hybrid Clio and Yaris
This is available from €21,490, and also offers 16-inch alloy wheels, keyless start, six speakers, rear window wiper and electric and heated exterior mirrors. Finally, the top of the range Luxury is offered from €23,490 (i.e. less than an entry-level Clio or Yaris hybrid, respectively priced at €23,900 and €24,450!). It features blind spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, a 360° camera, LED headlights, a rain sensor, keyless entry and start, imitation leather/fabric upholstery with heated front seats as well as a heated microfiber leather steering wheel.
MG specifies that the city car has a solid Dover White color as standard and six metallic shades from €650: Pebble Black, Pastel Yellow, Como Blue, Diamond Red, Cosmic Silver and Hampstead Grey. The brand offers a LLD financing offer in France over 37 months and 30,000 km, from €149 per month with a first rent of €3,390. Note that the model is guaranteed for 7 years and 150,000 km, like all other MGs.
