Roads cut, rivers and canals overflowing… the night from Thursday October 17 to Friday October 18 was long for many residents of the Île-de-France region. The equivalent of two weeks of rain fell in Paris in just one hour in the eveningbarely a week after the passage of Storm Kirk.

The municipalities south of Yvelines were strongly affected by these new overflowing rivers: the Montabé, the Redon and the Yvette. In Chevreuse, roads have been cut and parking lots evacuated like that of the dryer. In Saint-Rémy-Lès-Chevreuse the mayor did not sleep all night. Starting yesterday evening using the police megaphone, he called on his residents to stay safe in height. The courtyard of the Jean Jaurès school was flooded this Friday morning.
In Essonne, firefighters announce around a hundred interventions overnightespecially to pump water from flooded cellars in the Forges, Massy, Savigny and Igny areas. A striking image also this Thursday at the end of the day: a bus trapped by water in Leuville-sur-Orge with around ten children and accompanying persons on board. But they all returned home safely
The human toll remains reassuring for the moment: no evacuation, no serious injuries, no missing persons. A fear for the next few hours: rising water levels which could continue because the rivers are saturated.
