Remember that on October 16 around 10:30 a.m., emergency services were called to Vollant Street in Sept-Îles for a fire in a residence.

The intervention unfortunately led to the discovery of a deceased person in the residence following the fire. The identification of the victim must be made to the satisfaction of the coroner.

“At this stage of the investigation, we can confirm that certain elements lead us to believe that this is indeed arson. It is the services investigating crimes against the person who are responsible for this investigation,” indicates the Sûreté du Québec.

The five individuals mentioned above were arrested shortly after the fire started.

The file is still under review and the investigation is still ongoing. Other charges could be laid.
