Hundreds of people gathered on Independence Square, Kyiv’s famous Maidan, to demand answers about their loved ones lost in action.

Protesters stood for several hours, holding banners of military brigades and photos of their missing loved ones.

Protesters, mostly women, expressed frustration at what they said was poor communication and lack of clarity from the government regarding the fate of their loved ones who went missing while fighting the invasion mass of Russia.

“Our government’s lack of accountability and action has brought me here today,” said Karina Kytsiak, whose husband is missing in action.

“We want our government to hear us and our president to care about this problem,” she added.

Some protesters said excessive bureaucracy and the government’s reluctance to disclose the true scale of Ukraine’s battlefield losses were to blame for the lack of answers.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky partially revealed its five-point plan aimed at encouraging Russia to end the war through negotiation.

One key element would be a formal invitation to join NATO, which Western donors have been reluctant to consider before the end of the war.

Mr. Zelensky presented the plan to the Ukrainian Parliament on Wednesday, without disclosing confidential elements of it which were presented privately to key allies, including the United States.
