Deposit systems continue to enjoy strong support in the country: three-quarters of Canadians are more likely to recycle or dispose of beverage containers responsibly if they have a deposit system. Harmonization of recycling systems is also a priority: 90% of Canadians who currently have access to a deposit system believe that the provinces should work together to ensure consistency across the country, and 80% believe that the federal government should organize a pan-Canadian deposit system.

The Ipsos poll also indicates that plastic waste is still a concern for Canadians: some 83% of respondents are concerned about the inadequate disposal of plastic. Despite these concerns, plastic remains a popular packaging option: nearly 73% of Canadians regularly use plastic containers due to their recyclability and convenience. The beverage industry continues to invest in recycling programs Canada.
