Former One Direction member Liam Payne has died after falling from the third floor of a hotel.
Liam Payne, former member of One Direction, fell from the third floor, from the balcony of a room at the Casa Sur hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Wednesday October 16, 2024. The 31-year-old British singer fell approximately fourteen meters , according to police.
A little before, around 5 p.m. local time, the hotel manager called 911, the police emergency number, to report “an aggressive guest who appeared to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol.”
The Associated Press was able to listen to this call: “He is destroying the whole room, (…) we need you to send someone, please.”
Still according to the press agency, the director’s voice was “more and more anxious as the call progressed, specifying that the room has a balcony”.

“No possibility of resuscitation”
In these photos of the hotel room, authenticated by the Argentinian newspaper La Nación, we can see a broken screen and white powder on the floor, with next to the aluminum, a lighter and a bottle of medicine.
After Liam Payne’s fall, emergency services were called at 5:04 p.m. The medical team arrived at the hotel seven minutes later, at 5:11 p.m.
According to the head of emergency, Alberto Crescenti, Liam Payne presented “very serious injuries following his fall, there was no possibility of resuscitation”. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation was opened to establish the circumstances of his death. Authorities must determine whether this fall was intentional or accidental.
In recent years, Liam Payne has openly spoken about his problems with alcoholism and his difficulties linked to his celebrity.
