This Thursday at 12 p.m., the Rhône went into red alert for floods.

Update at noon

At noon, the flood of the Gier (which broke its flood record) brought the Rhône into vigilance red at the floods, according to Météo . Vigilance which will remain in force until Friday.

In the south of the department, Givors is cut off from the world this morning, part of the town is under water.

The municipal safeguard plan was activated at 10 a.m. this morning to coordinate operations.

The Gier showed more than 4m50 at 11amhe had risen to 4m22 in 2008.

The commercial area along the A47 is partly flooded.

The A47 closed to traffic in both directions between Givors west and the Nœud de Ternay.

The departments D502 D488, D386, D342, D150, D140, D124, D105, D103, D86,
D83, D28, D30 are impassable.

No TCL bus in Givors either, traffic was interrupted.

TER traffic is stopped between and Saint-Étienne for the whole day due to flooding on the rails.

Coaches have been ordered by the SNCF to connect Saint-Étienne to Lyon Part-Dieu.

We are still expecting rainfall totals of between 80 and 120mm until the middle of the night.

The Prefecture calls for extreme caution if you have to go out today. It is recommended to postpone your travels.
