Welcome to the Game Thread. Game Thread veterans know how we do things here, but for all newbies out there, we have a few rules. OUR community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll or swear too much.
The regular season is just over a week away, but the Spurs still have two practice games to wrap up the preseason. Tonight is the only preseason game against an Eastern Conference team, Erik Spoelstra’s Heat. This is a team that is always in the hunt for the playoffs and can pull off big surprises. But tonight’s game is just a chance to see Stephon Castle in action once again and see the speedy Blake Wesley burst onto the NBA scene. Victor Wembanyama may or may not play, but we will definitely see a lot of Mamu, as he is always ready to shoot or pass to his teammates.
The Spurs have one more preseason game after tonight, against the Rockets on Friday, then the real games begin next week in Dallas against the Mavericks, who added Klay Thompson to the backcourt to help Luka Doncic. It’ll be fun.
