Our columnist Bertrand Deckers, who also works for “Place royale”, was the victim of a snatching.
Bertrand Deckers, columnist for Soirmag and “Place royale”, confided on Cnews that he had been attacked in Paris. The Belgian journalist and writer was present on Romain Desarbres’ morning show this Monday and recounted the attack and theft suffered.
He explains thus: “ I was leaving the metro, it was midnight. I was at Porte de la Chapelle in the eighteenth arrondissement, in the north of Paris. My phone rang as I was leaving the subway, so I took the conversation. »
A man then called out to him: “ As I walked I was surprised to hear someone shouting behind me, a very loud voice speaking to me. I turned around and there were two very small people in front of me.. »
The chronicler continues: “ It happened very quickly, it was dark of course, they rushed at me and pushed me, I found it quite violent,” relates Bertrand Deckers, adding that he fell on a barrier after being jostled. »
Our columnist started: “ I remember at that time, I was on the phone and a hand grabbed my phone to take it away from me. It’s a steal, sure, but it’s not like I dropped my phone off somewhere and thought, ‘I got a little distracted’…”
Bertrand Deckers then describes his attackers as “very young”, in their twenties. And to conclude: “ I’m surprised, I didn’t have the latest iPhone, I’m not a technology person at all, (…) I’m more of a parchment and quill pen type person. My phone must be worth twenty, thirty euros. I still tell myself that things could have gone wrong. If I had expressed any resistance… (…) Today, in Paris, for perhaps twenty euros, your life can be put in danger. »
