The replay of the show
The program for this program includes quizzes, drawings by Jacques Azam and answers to students’ questions on this important subject. It is Émilie Tran Nguyen, presenter of the show “C à vous”, on France 5, and director of the documentary film I’m not Chinese* who was our guest.
Émilie explained that making fun of a person for their appearance can be racist because we don’t choose our skin color, for example. She recalled that when we are mocked, it’s important to talk about it, not to keep this problem to yourself. And she suggested several ways to react when you are a child that you can discover in the replay of the show.
*The documentary film I’m not Chinesebroadcast on France 5, deals with the history of the French in Southeast Asia. A subject that is close to the heart of Émilie Tran Nguyen, herself being of Vietnamese origin through her father, and also Algerian through her mother.
A drawing by Jacques Azam
Jacques Azam drew live what Emilie’s responses inspired in him. We discover one of the drawings which reminds us that racism is punishable by law. A rule applies to adults and also to children.
