A false press release has been circulating online since Monday morning, announcing the supposed death of the President of the Republic, Paul Biya. A denial from MiNAT immediately followed.

Dated October 9 and attributed to the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, this false press release announces the death of the Head of State Paul Biya. Yet another maneuver by malicious people aimed at sowing chaos among public opinion.

On social networks, MINAT Paul Atanga Nji denied this press release. “ Fake News“, we can read on the official MINAT X account. This new attempt comes the day after MINAT’s decision to prohibit any debate on the state of health of the President of the Republic. Because, according to the Ministry of Communication, the Head of State treated himself to a brief private stay in Geneva where he arrived from the Forum on Sino-African Cooperation in Beijing at the beginning of September.

Paul Biya is doing well and going about his business, assures René Emmanuel Sadi. A press release later supported by the Minister Director of the Civil Cabinet at the Presidency of the Republic, Samuel Ayolo Mvondo. This close collaborator of President Biya denounced the unfounded rumors about his state of health and assured Cameroonians that the tenant of the Etoudi Palace is doing very well. His return to Yaoundé will take place in the coming days, said MINCOM.
