20:15 Thierry Bodlet, outgoing mayor, recognizes the victory of Richard Fournaux: “the victory of ambition is clear. It is the choice of the voter and it must be respected. It is a disappointment for the team which I thank for his support for the list and I congratulate those who won. The master of the game is Richard.”
20h: Richard Fournaux is moved. He realizes what is happening. When asked if the lion was resurrected tonight, he replied: “The lion never died.” His companion Patrick blurts out “it’s revenge.” A word that Richard Fournaux says he does not appreciate despite everything. And added: “6 years ago, they were wrong. But it is due to me too. If Mr. Tixhon and I had seen each other, and we had discussed, Dinant would not have lost 6 years. But it was conflicting at that time. I’m not in that spirit anymore.”

The challenges in Dinant
“Ambition”. The name of his list says it all: it is a vengeful Richard Fournaux who presents himself before the voter. What ambition? That of becoming mayor of Dinant again after having been returned to the opposition, on the evening of the 2018 election, by an association between the “Dinantais Interests” list of Axel Tixhon, who was going to wear the mayoral sash, with two elected socialists and three elected from the Closset list. After six years of twists and turns and other adventures, including the departure of Tixhon who was succeeded by Thierry Bodlet as mayor, Fournaux hopes to win an absolute majority. Who to counter his plans? The other strong list is “Dinamic”, led by Omer Laloux (of “Engaged” tendency but also with Ecolos). She could repeat the trick of 2018 and a tripartite against Fournaux by joining forces with her “Avenir” list, composed by Thierry Bodlet, and the left-wing list “Pour VouS”. The latter two will therefore undoubtedly play the role of arbiter if Fournaux is not able to take power alone by choosing to associate either with him or with Laloux.
