Author of a great performance this Sunday with Guinea, Serhou Guirassy reiterated his intentions, those of winning the African Ballon d’Or won by Victor Osimhen last season.
The time when he was in difficulty on the pitches of Ligue 1 goes back a long, long way for Sehrou Guirassy (28 years old) who is now a threat to all defenses. Author of an extraordinary year during the previous year, he scored 30 goals in 30 appearances with Stuttgart, the Guinean confirms this season. Transferred to Dortmund for an amount of 18 million euros, i.e. that of his release clause, he has already scored six times… in as many matches played. Thus, his success was not just an epiphenomenon. The former LOSC striker (2015-16) proved it once again this Sunday.
In the colors of Guinea, with whom he competes with Mohamed Bayo, Serhou Guirassy scored a hat-trick during a duel with Ethiopia as part of qualifying for the African Cup of Nations. It’s no secret, but he doesn’t have his tongue in his pocket and? At the final whistle, he took advantage of his performance to reaffirm his ambitions: “Of course, it’s a very clear objective. I didn’t come here to laugh”he said, referring to the African Ballon d’Or, a reward that he dreams of being able to win in the months to come.
If successful, Sehrou Guirassy would succeed Victor Osimhen, who also spent a year with the Mastiffs. The period taken into account to evaluate everyone’s performance has recently ended. It extended from November 2023 to September 2024. The date and location of the CAF Awards ceremony have not yet been revealed
