It was 6 a.m. last Sunday when a 32-year-old man lost his life, victim of a gunshot, leaving a birthday party in Les Abymes.
Indicted for murder
The video of the victim’s body had been widely distributed on social networks “in contempt of her dignity”, underlines prosecutor Caroline Calbo.
The use of video surveillance and testimonies made it possible to establish that a brawl had taken place that morning between the victim and a group of individuals. The victim suffered a blow before pulling out his knife and injuring his attacker. The latter allegedly took out a gun and shot the victim in the head. The victim collapsed and the suspect, injured by the stab, fled.
The suspect, aged 23, was found at the university hospital and then taken into police custody.
The suspect, who was drunk at the time of the incident, declared that he did not remember being the author of the fatal shooting.
Discharged on October 12, he was indicted for murder. The judge of freedoms and detention then ordered his placement in pre-trial detention following the adversarial debate.
